I'm sorry to ask such a basic question, but I need to find a way to burn .dat files (which I generally download from newsgroups), to a vcd. I've always had to convert the .dat to an .mpg using vcd gear. Is there a way to avoid this conversion? I've tried dropping the .dat file straight into toast (with the vcd setting), but toast 5 doesn't let me. .mpg files work fine though. Please help...I'm trying to preserve as much image quality/time commitment as possible!
Thanks.

Go under the tools section and d/l the gui version of vcdgear version 2.0. It converts dats to mpgs , etc ,etc. It is the best conversion tool out there.
