  1. does anyone know of a site or forum where I can ask questions about capturing stereo cassette audio to my PC? my laptop has a audio line in but I believe its not 2 channel...how would I go about getting it into my pc in stereo then convert to CD audio? maybe mp3

    Thanks,

  2. Unless it is a REALLY old laptop, it will have a stereo line in.

Connect the line out of your tape player to the line in of your soundcard/laptop with a standard 3.5mm plug to plug cable.

Get a good audio editing proggy (e.g., CoolEdit 2000 -- you can download the shareware version).

    Adjust your recording level.

    Then, record away.

You may want to use noise reduction or other filters after you've recorded to help clean up the audio.

Save to WAV and then use a MP3 encoder to encode to MP3 if you so wish.

    Regards.
