  1. I've got several music video clips in MPEG1 and MPEG2 formats, mostly MPEG1 and I'd like to somehow create my own karaoke version for it. I've already managed to add in the lyrics using Ulead VideoStudio and encoding it with the DeVoc music with VirtualDub.

I wanna know how to create 2 audio channels with vocals & music on one channel and music without vocals to the other channel so that my VCD player is able to switch between 2 audio channels. Some say that in TMPGEnc, it's called Multiplexing but I've got no idea on how it works.

I've also viewed some forums in here that's relevant to this question but I just to make sure that's I'm using the right tools.

  2. for vcd, see this guide:
    http://www.vcdhelp.com/forum/userguides/78196.php

for svcd, use TMPGEnc - MPEG tools - Multiplex tab. Just add your video and the 2 audio streams (music+vocal, music only)

  3. Thanks for your post vts, I've tried doing so. Question is once i've loaded my video it pops out 2 files;

    File / Information
    Creed.mpg / MPEG-1 Video 352 X 288 25fps 1150kbps
    Creed.mpg / MPEG-1 Audio Layer-2 44100Hz 256kbps

Are these information correct prior to create SVCD standards for multiplexing? Also, on the Multiplex tab on TMPGEnc, the type was at default at MPEG-1 System (automatic). Should I change it MPEG-2 Super VideoCD (vbr)?

Another thing is, once I've loaded my video file, I assume that keep the MPEG-1 Video of Creed but do I need too keep the Audio Layer-2 thus adding the DeVoc audio file?

Also, I noticed that adding a file in the Multiplex, it supports other file types eg; MPEG Stream, MPEG Video Stream, MPEG Audio Stream and Dolby AC-3 Stream. Which file format should I load to create a successful Video and 2 channels Audio?

Looks like you have a PAL VCD? you need 480x576 for PAL SVCD.

on the Multiplex tab, I use
    MPEG-1 Video-CD for vcd
MPEG-2 Super VideoCD (VBR) for svcd

If you want to keep the video only and replace the audio, use simple d-multiplex it gives you a video (m2v) and audio (mp2) file. you can then use the video file and your own audio.
for svcd, I use one video (m2v) and 2 audio (mp2) streams.

  5. I managed to convert my MPEG-1 Video file to a .m2v stream file. How do I convert my DeVoc.wav file to a .mp2 stream file?

By the way, which one is applicable for 1 video + 2 audio? VCD or SVCD standards?

  6. I also need a software player that could swap the 2 audio channels playing vocal+music and music only. Any recommendations?
