Hello.
I just got myself a Pioneer DCS-303, and it plays vcd, i tried yesterday to burn a movie to svcd, i used Latest Nero on my Plextor 40x12x40 on a memorex disk. When i put the disk into my Pioneer it works, but turns to black and white?? sound is great, and picture is sharp and crisp clear.. BUT black and white. I have some older disks burn and they play in color.
When i try the disk i made yesterday on my computer and power-dvd it gets color aswell. Anyone knows why it gets like this? or is it because its Svcd and not just vcd that i burnt? Im new to this so please go easy on me.![]()

Format problem ?
This is probrably a PAL-NTSC issue.
You have created a VCD in a format not native to your region, and your hardware is not capable of displaying it correctly. -
Ok, So what i should do is to reconvert the allready converted file into a PAL format?
Dont know if its ok to talk about this in the forum, but the movied i tried to burn, was an allready made svcd movie, found on DC, and i just wanted to see if it could play.. tried to burn it as only vcd, but then Nero bugged about mpeg probs regarding some standards. so it could only be burnt as svcd. Did never have this with my old player, an Denver-311, but some thief came home and stole that one, so i cant test if my disks runs better at that one.
But is there any settings in the dvdplayer that can correct this? if so, what are those functions called?
Best regards
Peter

Is there a PAL-NTSC (or PAL60) switch on the back of your player, failing that then I am afraid you will have to convert it which will result in a loss of quality.
You make a choice, good quality black and white or not so good quality colour. -
Dig out your user's manual... You may be able to set/force PAL/NTSC output by using the remote or some sort of OSD.

Ok guys.
Most helpful here, i appriciate it.
And i will have a close encounter with my machine tonight and see if there is anything there that sounds like what you are telling me.
And if not,, well then, screw it.. i can hook up my PC to it and watch that particilar movie. and in the future just make sure that the movies i find will have the correct standard. As long as you guys dont think i made any general mistakes in the burning process, cuzz was thinking i needed to maybe use other burn software.
