  1. This morning I tryed to set my computer up to convert Donnie Darko while I was at work and it said the file was 333 minutes long. But the movie is only about 2 hours. It said the same thing for a couple other movies I tryed.

I even loaded it up just to see what it would do , and it told me it would take 11 hours to encode it.

Has anyone encountered any problems like this, and if so. How do I fix it.

I tryed messing with the options but to no avail.

I was doing this on my dads system.

    Intel Celeron 1.7 Ghz
    512 RAM

    please help me

  3. I had a similar experience converting Shrek from avi. Tmpgenc said it was about 4 hours long and would take ages to convert. After about 1 and a half hours tmpgenc stopped converting and produced an error message (can't remember what).

However, the mpeg it produced was fine and included the whole of the Shrek avi. So despite what it said about the length of the film and how long it would take to convert it, it only took 90 minutes.

So try running it anyway, it may take a lot less time to convert than it says.

  4. Ytr opening your avi file in virtualdub 1.4.10. If it gives you a warning about VBR compressed audio, then that is what is causing Tmpgenc the problem. There are a number of solutions that may help, try searching the forum for more info.

  5. Thanx guys,
I was using the project wizard and that was giving me the warning, so I went in and just messed with the options, Anyways it still said the movie was 5 hours long, but I tryed anyways. It was the fastest encoding I've done yet. But it didnt finish because our power went out durring a storm.

Anyways I think I have it figured out

by the way, do you guys use the project wizard or is it better to mess with options manually

    thanks
