hi,
i'm looking for a fast and reliable way to capture a lot of old vhs-tapes into a vcd-compatible format. i've tried a lot of software applications with my hauppage wintv bt878 card. sometimes it works quite well. but very often the capture card starts droping more and more frames. it depends on the quality and the correctness of the vhs-signals i think. i've tried capturing with lower resolutions to crop some distorted vhs-lines. that works. but then i can't capture in realtime anymore...
i think the only way that could meet my requirements would be a hardware capture card. does anyone of you have experiences with capture cards that could handle also worse vhs-copys in realtime without loosing frames? and of course i'm looking for a not too expensive solution. by the way: i'm working with pal. so it should be a solution that could handle both pal and ntsc.
thanks in advance for your hints
kklaus
