I am currently having some difficulty ripping Monsters, inc. I have backed up a lot of DVD's and read and reread all the how-to guides, but this one stumped me.
The DVD contains a widescreen and a fullscreen version. I want to strip one of these out. The DVD also has an FBI warning (title 11, VOB 5-1), and a lot of previews (title 6, VOB 3-1 and title 23, VOB 8-1). I tried opening video_ts.ifo and doing menu extras - strip streams, but it only gives me the options of vobid 1 and vobid 2. I also tried to delete entries in video_ts.ifo, but I couldn't figure out which, if any, to delete. Which IFO file should I open and what should I do in it?
Here's the text from video_ts.ifo:

Ifoedit
http://mpucoder.kewlhair.com/derrow/index.html
all the guides and tools you will needThere's not much to do but then I can't do much anyway. -
Stripping copyright notice:
To remove that copyright screen, load VIDEO_TS.IFO with IfoEdit, and in scroll down the VMG_Overview to the 'Menu language Unit' section.
Lets say for example, you see this:
Language menu Unit 1 [English]
Menu 1: [Title Menu] (entry PGC)
Menu 2: [entry only] (programs 1) (Cells 1) (uses VOB-IDs: 1)
Menu 3: [entry only] (programs 1) (Cells 1) (uses VOB-IDs: 2)
Menu 4: [entry only] (programs 1) (Cells 1) (uses VOB-IDs: 3)
Now simply 'one-click' on the line that contains Menu 3, and press the button 'Delete playback'.
You will see, that the line changes to:
Menu 3: [entry only] (programs 0) (Cells 0) -
You missed the first part of that quote.
You remove the one that applies.
Lets say your VIDEO_TS.VOB containes 3 short movies.
All does have an own VOB-ID!
With the tool 'Vobrator' you are able to wonderfully check, which VOB-ID has got which movie, by previewing it.
So lets say for example:
VOB-ID 1 -> Warner welcome screen
VOB-ID 2 -> anoying copyright warning
VOB-ID 3 -> Sony production logoThere's not much to do but then I can't do much anyway. -
So I know which VOB has which movie already (VOB 5 for copyright). I don't know what to delete so that it doesn't play the ones I don't want. I included the text of the VIDEO_TS.IFO file in my original post. Can you point me towards what to delete there?

Hmm...
I assume you're talking about disc #1?
For me that disc was easy.
I used Smartripper to rip only the widescreen movie (didn't need the menu since I wasn't keeping the commercials, previews, etc., and you can still hit the "next" button on the remote to advance chapters).
Disc #2 is still a nightmare, due to the 93 or so VOB's!!!I don't have a bad attitude...
Life has a bad attitude! -
Thanks
I suppose thats one way to do an end-run around the whole problem. I'll do that with this DVD, BUT I still need to learn to do this for a few other disks, like the Stargate SG-1 DVDs (4 episodes per disk) I'm trying to back-up.
