  1. Here's a new twist: I just split an mpg today. Both mpgs are properly synchronized with the audio and they play great.

The first cd I made (of the first part) it came out perfectly. The second cd (with the second part) the audio was out of sync. Should I just try a reburn or is there an option in nero i should be checking?

    Thanks!

  2. Update: I reburned the mpg, but the audio is still out of sync. How is this possible considering the mpg itself is not of sync. It only gets messed up after burning, then it is out of sync.

  3. Is it out od sync on your pc or on your dvd player?

  4. It is just out of sync on the dvd player. After encoded, it works fine on my computer. After I split it into parts and everything, still fine. Only after I burned it (i ended up splitting it into only two parts), the first cd came out synchronized, but the 2nd cd will not sync. Again, before I burn it, I checked it and the audio IS synchronized. Only once I burn the 2nd cd is the audio out of sync. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong.

I have this same problem with vcds and DVDs but only when I use ulead for authoring and burning.
They play just fine when after I convert them and even when I split them they play fine but after I author and burn either my first or 2nd disc is out of sync.
Or my whole DVD is out o sync.

Here are the settings that I am useing.
Rip as normal with smart ripper.
Use DVD2AVI as the vcdhelp guide shows. or if I am Makeing a DVD-R I change to force film setting this changes the movie to 23 fps. and gets rid of that interlace shit.
Then I convert to either vcd or DVD with Tmpegnc plus using the ntsc 29 fps template.
I never change any of the settings for the vcd exept clip frame and keep aspect ratio #1 to match the scorce
    so everything stays as defalt.
If I do dvd I use best quality template ntsc 29 fps. with a bitrate between 3000 and 4000.
the reast I leave the same but I chance the clip frame and keep aspect ratio to match the scorce.
    Then I covert.
They always play great and they are alway in sync.
Even If I cut them they are still in sync.
But after I use ulead to author and burn always one of the two disc are out of sync.
Or If I author my DVD and burn to DVD-R they are way out of sync.
I even tried just make video ts files with ulead and they are way out of sync.
So anyone know what to do here?
Why am I getting sync problems?

    vertigo,
What did you use to split the MPEG file? That seems to be where the problem originated. Something you might want to try is to demultiplex your original MPEG file and use bbMPEG to remux and set the max file size your looking for at the split. If there is anything wrong with the file it will show up in the dialogue box that displays during the conversion.

He checked the file after this and it was in sync. Didn't you read that?

My "guess" is that the file is being re-encoded by the authoring software and this is when it loses sync.

    Try another authoring software.

    leebo,
Is there any harm in suggesting my way? I do it this way all the time and have ZERO problems. My suggestion to you is if you don't have any constructive comments relating to the topic keep them to yourself.

    Here's a constructive comment:

Read the ENTIRE post b4 making any suggestions.

There's nothing wrong with your way, but you made the statement that it sounds like his problem is starting when he splits his file, even though he confirmed sync is still good AFTER that point, tells me you're not paying full attention.

Now this really helps solve his problem. Enough said.

  11. @ vertigo

If you are still having problems, post the details about what software
you are using to split the mpegs, what burning app you are using and
what DVD player you are viewing with.

    @ leebo

Just because the split mpeg plays ok under media player, does not
always mean that there is no problem with the spliting procedure or the original mpeg. There could be a fps issue, a VBR issue, a keyframe
issue or a delayed audio issue. Media Player does not have the restrictions playing the VCD/SVCD specification that DVD standalone players do, and in addition, MP hosts it's own bugs and issues - particularly with mpeg-2.

    @ kayfam

The reporting procedure is only for use when someone breaks
forum rules ie. talking warez, bashing or insulting behaviour, double
posts etc. While leebo was blunt in his/her reply, this does not constitute
bashing. Rude people hate it when they are ignored - try this in the future

  12. Have you had any similar problems playing VCD's on your Standalone?

  13. Thanks for all of your replies. I am splitting the mpgs with tmpgenc. My cd authoring software is nero 5.5.9.0.

I will try different splitting software and authoring software and post the results.

By the way, my dvd is a 1100W apex (the one that doesn't play vcd).

I will try again and let you all know.
