  1. I am burning DVDs on a Pioneer DVR-104 to Sony DMR47 discs using Roxio's Videowave Movie Creator. I ususally fill the discs to over 90% capacity (Movie Creator limit is 4.4g) but less than 100%. 9 out of 10 productions will freeze up and stop several minutes before the end. I get the same result whether I play them back on my Xbox or on my PC.

I talked to Pioneer and ofcourse there is nothing wrong with the burner. The tech guy is convinced it is the player's fault. But, I'm not so sure. It is strange that it doesn't freeze up until near the end, which would be the outer edge of the disc. Also, each disc will freeze at varying spots. Some will freeze with 10 minutes remaining others will freeze with less time. These are Sony discs so, it can't be the discs, right?

I am wondering if anyone else has experienced anything remotely similiar? Does anyone have any insight that would help me diagnose the source of my problem?

  2. Have you tried different burning software, like recordnow max..which you can download a trial copy..

I use to have that problem with nero but wioth recordnow max I haven't had that problem..and have you tried different media.....I use optodisc and I have burnwindtalkers on it at 4.4 gig and no freezing...

  3. Before using the Sony discs, I was using generic 2x discs from ESBuy.com (pink label). These were much worse. Sometime I couldn't even get half way through a production before freeze up.

I had the same problem when I burned with Sonic MyDVD. I thought it was the software so I switched to Roxio (which uses EasyCD to do the burning, I think).

I will try your suggested software and media and see what happens. Thanks.
