Is there a good editing program for mpg files so I can cut certain scences out and then save the file instead of using TMPGEnc to edit it and then have to re-encode it.??????

I would download Media Studio Pro 6.5 Trial from Ulead. You can capture in avi, edit, and save as MPEG1 or 2. The result are a clear crisp video with the audio in sync every time!
the is no need in using alot of programsto do it...
You can download a trial copy of Media Studio Pro from
http://www.ulead.com/msp/runme.htm
They also offer upgrade offers from other editing software – so you can get it as cheep as $129.00 for the DC version -
Mavrick when you capture in AVI, and saving in MPEG, are you not re-encoding?

u don't need such an expensive program for just editing an mpeg
there are LOTSA small programs for that that doesn't cost much
i use iFilm Edit...very user friendly and my favorite
there is also MyFlix...also very easy to use and inexpensive
i think also VcdCutter can do the tricknever used it but the name turns it in
and TMPGenc can do it as well...and it is freeware
also mpegtool
just take ur pick...
btw /me thinks u could find all this on ur own -
Remember, everyone: He wants to be able to edit without re-encoding. I wish him success in his endeavor, but I think it is impossible. All the above programs re-encode after editing. How can they not?

There are 3 editors I know of that will allow you to edit Mpeg2 files without reencoding.
Mediaware Myflix, $150
Mediaware M2-Edit, costs way too much
Womble MPEG2VCR, $250
All three have demo versions you can download. I've tried all three and I like the editing interface of mpeg2vcr the best. It is fast... I can open, clip commercials and save a 2hr/4gig mpeg2 file in around 15 minutes.
My understanding is that these editors allow frame accurate editing by only reencoding the GOP around the edit.

Hey thanks for the help. see what I need to do is (well after I encoded with tmpg and forgot to edit). I need to cut certain parts out and then just resave the file with the parts I cut out with no need to re-encode if it is possible
