  1. What is the best way to convert an (.avi) DivX file to a DVD using TMPGEnc? There is a walkthrough on this site but it tells you to designate a certain file size or percent of the cd to use but I am not sure how to go about doing this. Also, is this the best sound/video quality conversion there is? Thanks.

  2. Personally I do the following:

1st load the appropriate DVD template (PAL or NTSC) and change the following.

Use 2-pass VBR, average as high as the movie length will allow (use the bitrate calculator in tools section of this site), max 8000, min 2000.
Motion estimate search (for decent encode time) or high quality if I really want the best, highest isnt worth it IMHO. Audio 48khz, use ssrc for upsampling if needed and toolame for encoding the audio. Don't think I change anything else usually, and they turn out pretty good. If a movie is much over 2 hours and contains lots of action tho it is usually worth splitting over two disks.

    Hope this helps.

  3. Hey guys
I tried to encode a divx to mpg2 with tmpgec and the sound and video are out of sync. the avi plays perfect until i convert it to an mpg2. any suggestions?

  4. Out of sync the same all the way through or sync drifting as the movie goes, if the latter, then check that the framerate matches that of the selected TmpGenc template. If the former, search the forums for your answer.

  6. Hey guys the sync problem starts about 20 minutes into the movie.

I used avi2wav to make a wave file frpm the divx file and it is still out of sync. the wave file is only about 80mgs for a 2hr movie.

Virtualdub will not allow me to open any of my divx files i get an error. Ihave all the divx codes loaded(nimo pack) and still get the error.

I am using ulead dvdmoviefactory to author the dvd.

  7. No audio,, Have no problem normally converting avi's to disc using TMPGEnc, however tried a Divx movie and there was completely no sound, Do I definately have to separate the audio when using Divx movies?? And if so why is it different from the avi's???? The divx movie
has been split over three discs, would you have to split the audio into three separate wav. files?? Can anyone help Please..
