  1. I'm trying to produce a compressed movie from a DV source that I edited with Premiere 6.02. The target video CODEC is DIVX and the audio is MP3.

I have no problems encoding to DIVX, however, MP3 does not appear as a Premiere CODEC. I'm ready to buy any such codec plugin for Premiere, but from where???

    Thanks!

  2. No answers??? Does that mean there are none?

If I wanted to write one myself, where would I find the tech info for that? (I've been a tech guy for the last 15 years, so I'm not effraid of writing a bit of C, but I need the basic tech info on Premiere)

    Thanks!

i would think installing this and following dir included - you would then have mp3 as export option ...

With all due respect, Premier will never see MP3 encoder on it's own. Try finding 3-rd party Plug-In or encoder that does audio out in mp3 format.

  6. BJ_M, thanks for the suggestion.

What you're proposing is the Radium MP3 CODEC, a more or less legal version of the AudioActive version (www.audioactive.com) and.......

    does not work with Premiere!!!!

    Any other suggestion?

  8. BJ_M, making the audio track an MP3 reduces significantly the space the vid takes on disk. I'm trying to archive some Hi8 and VHS tapes, and that takes a huge amount of space. Anything I can save is worth it...

THe problem is that despites the CODEC shows up as installed on the system, it does not show as a compression option for audio in Premiere (when you do a Movie Export).

    Why is that so???

compress the audio to mpeg 1 then is all i can suggest or use another program to save/edit and render your hi8 and tapes captures ..

  10. Anybody has any idea why the MP3 codec does not appear for encoding using Premiere, while it does appear while using Virtual Dub???
