I've reencoded Vanilla Sky using rempeg and remuxed the *.m2v stream using IfoEdit according to the IfoEdit-basic manual. All went well...

The movie plays perfectly on my computer, but when i try to burn the DVD using Nero it says 'DVD-video files reallocation failed. The resulting DVD-video might be unplayable...." "One or more files (mostly VOB file(s)) do not belong to the corresponding IFO".

After this i still continued, but my standalone DVD player won't play the disk saying it's dirty.

All the files are in the VIDEO_TS folder on the DVD. I don't understand what's wrong.

    Please advice....

  2. in ifo edit after you re-muxed the m2v file, make sure you press "get VTS sectors".

    Burning with nero

use DVD UDF/ISO mode.... follow this guide on burning.

    http://mpucoder.kewlhair.com/derrow/nero.html

    hope this helps.

also in ifoedit you can test your dvd before you burn, just open up ur video_ts.ifo file and press dvd play.

In fact I did get the VTS sectors, and the DVD plays on my computer just fine.

Nero start up as Nero Express nowadays and the whole procedure goes through a wizard. I can't get to the normal nero.

I'll try making an image through IfoEdit and burn that. Maybe that helps.

    Thanks,

  4. You need to reinstall nero and when u open it for the first time it gives you the old wizard goto help then untick nero express. You really should be using UDF/Iso if you are burning with nero i had same problem a while ago.

I uninstalled nero and reinstalled version 5.5.8.0 which doesn't have the problem with reallocation.

Now the DVD plays fine in my standalone player! Problem solved...

Got rid of Nero Express in the process.

    Hell continues....

Nero 5.5.8.0 has problems recognizing DVD-R's. It reports 0Mb available, so it won't burn.

However I read about a workaround on the reallocation error in Nero. You can use DVD-ROM (UDF/ISO) instead of DVD-Video to burn the remuxed DVD files. Then the DVD plays fine on my standalone DVD player.
