  1. i have some movie files in the with file extension .avi. i tried to open with win media player as well as dixV player , but all has failed. can anyone know how to open these files? or has it been corrupted?

  2. You may not have the needed codec. Get the Nimo Coded Pack, it will install all the needed codecs. If that doesnt work, you may indeed have a corrupt file. In that case I believe there are pieces of software that can repair a broken divx file. Someone else here may know exact names. Try Virtualdub. It can rebuild the index and keyframes. I know sometimes when I download movies off kazaa, it wont open, and I have to run it through vdub and it says "rebuild index file". DO a direct stream copy of both audio and video and it shoots out a great working copy.

  6. Using DivFix is easier and much faster in your case. Virtual Dub, however, offers much more features and advanced filtering options.
