    when trying to encode a avi. can somebody tell me how to fix this?

    get the last version... http://www.tmpgenc.com
    It had some weird troubles in the last version, but the current version is allright.
    If it still doesn't work, then the DIVX/AVI file has an error in it... try fixing it with DIVFIX (sorry, dont know the URL, but I do know that when you strip the index, it sometimes works on a buggy avi file...)
