  1. It used to work perfectly, the awhile ago I was messing around with .mkvs so I installed a few codec packs and what not, after that my Tmpgenc will freeze whenever I load files. I've tried reinstalling it as well as trying different versions and its still freezing, obviously I have uninstalled the codec packs but that didn't help. Ideas ? I've also tried to change the direct show setting in tmpgenc from -1 to 0 to 1...

Edit: An additional note, I have no problem opening the files and watching them.

I would try (re)install haali media splitter and maybe ffdshow.

And I'm moving you to our conversion forum as tmpgenc is a converter.

  5. I have no luck converting MKV to mpg with TMPGenc too.

I followed Baldrick advice, and use one of those all in one tool.
Those toll take more than 10 hours to convert a full length movie MKV to DVD mpeg2. The subtitle in MKV will ended up as embedded text on screen.

MKV is not really a good format to convert from. There are no may player other VLC that can play it
