    Hi again,
I am still having problems creating (and playing) VCDs made from old VHS tapes. I do not seem to have any problems creating VCD 2.0 compatible files using Vdub +Tempgenc. However, my DVD player (which says it plays VCDs) just will not recognize these discs.
I have used Nero 5.5, EZ-CD, Click N Burn plus one from Magix to burn these VCD discs without success by any of them.
My question is ... The disk format (i.e., created files) by each is basically the same. Some include folders that others do not. Could this be a problem on playback????
    The structures are:
EZ-CD: cdda, cdi, karaoke, mpegav, segment and vcd (which is a hidden folder)
    Magix: cdi, mpegav, segment, vcd
Nero: cdi , ext, mpegav, segment, vcd
    Click: mpegav, vcd

Lastly, I have tried to research the differences between VCD 1.0 and VCD 2.0 thinking my player could only handle ver 1. formats.
Can anyone explanin what are single tracks images versus multi-track images and how could you tell by looking at the disc (via explorer)????

    Still trying,
    Ed

Try VCDEasy for authoring/burning VCD's. It has never failed me!

    snowmoom,
my dvd player is a panasonic A320-px. Written on the front of the case it says "DVD / Video CD / CD". I would presume then that it would play all three.
I know for a fact that it plays DVDs just fine. It also plays CDs just fine. Even the ones that I have created my self at home. However, VCDs are another story.
I sure wish I could find an answer soon. I have enough coasters to last a life time.

If you had bothered to read the DVDp player compatibility notes. It ONLY plays some cd-rw disks. This is a commong failing of DVD player not explicitly designed to play cd-r/cdrw.

    Snowmoon,
I DID read the compatibility charts. And just reread them again. Seems that I am not the only one who is experiencing this problem. However, I was hoping for those that seem to have success to maybe drop a few hints to help a newcomer along.

What media are you using to burn your VCDs onto? Are you using CD-R's, or CD-RW's? Which brand? You say you have a bunch of "coasters", so I am assuming you've been using CD-Rs, when the compatibility list shows it to play only CD-RWs.
