Hi
Im trying to pack 3 HD files into one stream (mkv?) so that I can play them back synchronised on 3 monitors or projectors. I am very much a newbie so go slow on me!
What should I use to put 3 HD files into one container? ( they can be h264 but preferably mpeg2 with ac3)
What should I use to play back said container?
Will this be able to play back all 3 HD video files at the same time using instances of the media player, like VLC video tracks etc? (on a fast pc)
thanks a million

You could just keep them as three separate videos, start 3 instances of the player (most will allow this, including MPCHC, VLC, and KMPlayer), then have one player per monitor, each running full screen.
Another possibility if the three videos have the same properties and the three monitors are the same resolution, is to encode the three videos side by side in one frame, then set the Desktop to span all three displays during playback. -
yes that works if i dont want them in sync , but I need them to be totally synced.
One thing Im confused about. When I make a MMG merge they all play in three windows instead of one where I can select each video track one at a time.
Isnt that how multi camera angle video streams normally work? Can I not make MMG do this in the muxing? I cant see where if you can.
If I could do that then I could upstream the file with VLC and then play different instances down stream via 3 more VLC instances, one per video track.
Does that make sense. -
As far as I know, there is no standard regarding how a player should handle parallel videos in an MKV file. Most players only play one of the videos.
