I got a new computer 2 months ago.
Before that WinTV32/2000 worked fine. It took a little while to get the audio to work but eventually it worked. I could capture great in Virtual Dub.
Now, I just installed it on XP. I had to run it as if it was on ME though and finally I got the audio to work in WinTV. However, I get an error about capturing in WinTV (can't get it to pop up now, but I still can't capture in WinTV)
I'd rather capture with Virtual Dub because it loses less frames & audio....
Well, I go to capture in Virtual Dub and guess what? No audio.......yet there is audio on WinTV. . .
So, I went to WinTV's website, and installed all the drivers and applications, and guess what? Still doesn't work. . .
I don't think this matters, but I'm trying to capture from VHS
Can anyone tell me how to fix this?
If not, can you please recommend a good capture device (external) like WinTV that is cheap and I can use with XP as well as Virtual Dub?

Were you able to capture VHS before? I have to ask the question however, you do have audio cables running from your VHS recorder to your line in on your sound card right? And your mixer settings in windows or whatever sound card application are not muted right?Otherwise try using another program to capture with from your TV Tuner. Do you have any other program besides WIN 32/2000 applications?

WinTV has an audio cable running from Line In to the Microphone jack on the back of my tower. Then I have to unmute the microphone in audio prefs. And I get sound with the WinTV application but not with Virtual Dub.
Wouldn't be a problem if WinTV didn't give me an error trying to capture. Sometimes it doesn't even give me an error, but instead just won't capture. However, I can take sill images.
The only hardware that I have which allows me to capture is WinTV 32/2000 but I don't usually use their software because flat out - it sucks. lol that is why I'd like to use Virtual Dub to record, which I've always been able to. I just can't get the audio to work in it.
