Hi, I have an AVI with AC3 audio that I have tried converting to DVD using CCE in DVD2SVCD but when it is finished it is about half to one second out of sync. If I use Mainconcept the audio is ok but the video has the wrong AR even though I click for 16:9, it is narrowed. So where am I going wrong?

Not enough info regarding your source file and what you are actually doing.

mainconcept should do it correctly under the dvd profile
    unless cropping is required

there are other tools to simplify things,
    if you're having difficulty, like
    dvdflick,
    convertxtodvd,
    any2dvd,
    favc...

This is the Gspot info for the AVI I want to convert.

These are the settings in Mainconcept.

I cant give you a Gspot for the finished Mpeg as it doesn't read them.

as for the squished look. the avi source is 2.47:1 not 2.35:1 which would be 16/9. you have keep proportions checked - so the final product will be 2.47:1 with black top and bottom borders. someone didn't rip that movie very well.

Trouble is aedipuss I cant find anywhere in Mainconcept to "keep proportions". In DVD2SVCD I can tick that but I end up with audio out of sync.

You can't add borders with mainconcept.

    Install avisynth and frameserve.

open text document in avi folder, type this and save as movie.avs
    drag movie.avs into mainconcept.

    Code:
    avisource("whatever.avi")
    lanczosresize(720,414)
    Addborders(0,80,0,82)
probably best to encode audio separately.

Easier is to use favc. select to keep working file.
delete dvd folder and use elementary streams in working file to author on your own.

  9. In MainConcept at Crop and Scale, untick keep proportions, set to 720 x 414 for PAL and 720 x 345 for NTSC and encode as 16:9. You can cheat on the 345, 414 by about 30 - 45 with no noticeable AR problems seen to lessen the black bars.
