I'm using TMPGEnc to create VCD/XVCDs from MJPEG AVIs. From reading the forms I found some helpful info. One suggestion was to download the mainconcept codex so that TMPGEnc could open the MJPEG AVIs. I did and it worked. I also found this suggestions in the guides. If that does not work try to change the codec reader settings in TMPGEnc under Option->
Environmental settings->VFAPI plug-in and right click on the AVI VFW
and increase the priority to 1 and try open the video. We I did this I noticed that the quality of the mpegs went down (blockey). I have since reset the defaults in VFAPI. My questions is, how can I tell which codex TMPGEnc is using to encode the mpeg. I understand that TMPGEnc is one of the best encoders, if I have download another codex I'm not using TMPGEnc to the best of its ability? Why did the quality go down when the AVI VFW priority was increased ?
