It's probably one that has one on each side. in the inner of the disk is should say widescreen on one side and fullscreen on the other. Put the disc in widescreen up.

If it's a single sided disk it's probably Pan -n- Scan so the mive itself should be widescreen is you rip it.

it's only one cd.. dual layered but doesn't seem dual sided (one side's labelled). only one cd in the set (so i guess it's pan and scan?). anyway dvd2svcd by default rips at full screen.. in the aspect ratio area of dvd2svcd, i get the option of "4:3 (encoded as 4:3)" and "widescreen (encoded as 4:3)" so would i just select widescreen?

Ok .. i did a widescreen rip of a chapter on the movie, and compared it to the acutal DVD.. the picture seems stretched on the rip, indicating to me that i'ts just stretching a 4:3 fullscreen source... howver the dvd has the option for both full and widescreen, and the widescreen looks fine when playing from the dvd.. so my question is.. how do I get at this widescreen format?

  8. Well, I don't use DVD2SVCD but had the same problem with DVD2AVI and solved it by simply setting the output format of the encoder (TMPEG) to 16:9. This may ad some encoding time but produces a proper output.

  9. I burned one that had wide and full on one cd. When you Rip the cd you have to rip the one that is wide. There should be two large program chains. Just rip both and test to see which ones is the widescreen.
