  1. ok, here goes...
I have a divX-movie that I converted to mpeg-1 using TMPGenc and then burned to a cd-r using Nero. Followed the guides at this site in both cases.
The mpeg-1 file is at 667mb(first part), but when I check out the vcd after burning, it is 2.16mb...can this be right?
When I put it in my standalone LF DVD4730 it just says "disc error" and spit it out again.....should not have any prob.
Have tried different burning speeds, but still the same result..
and yes I DO go for videocd in nero..have even tried both multisession and not multisession...and I DO go for vcd..
BTW the dvd-player on my computer dosen't seem to wanna play any movie either when I put it in there...
    Help willl be appreciated...

No, this does not seem right. Your CD should be at the same magnitude of size as the MPEG.
    Try VCDEasy instead of Nero.

  4. Well, I tried, but VCDeasy can't find my cd-writer....
I don't want to bother burning a .bin file and so on..
Have installed the latest ASPI drivers..used the adaptc with .exe first, then downloaded forceaspi and unzipped it to the same folder as the previous ones, but vcdeasy couldn't detect anyhow..
Beginning to wonder wether this is worth the hassel
Nero should do this job fine, how come this seems so difficult
Could it be because I burn it as PAL..?
Please help before I give up

Well, if you'd rather not bother, then there's really no other option left but but give up, isn't it?
I was going to suggest just that - create the cue/bin with VCDEasy, then burn this with some burning s/w that knows how to talk to your CD writer, and how to burn bin/cue (or any other of the formats VCDEasy can create).

  6. Is it my cd-rw that is making this problem?
It couldn't be the converting that there is something wrong about?
    I used:
    non-interlace(progressive)
    top field first(field A)
    1:1(vga)
    full screen
This is under advanced in settings..
Just tried again with nero5599 and I actually got 2.55mb on the cd this time.

Hmm... What template (if any) are you using with TMPGEnc? Standard VCD?

    /Mats

  8. Hmmmm...too I just downloaded Virtualdub and it tells me that the divX-file is at 29.970fps. Do I have to go for the ntsc-format, then?
I went for video-cd, if that's what you mean...? not super-vid etc..

  9. ok, making a new conversion now, following the guide with Virtualdub&Tmpgenc....understood your template question now...didn't use it before, but this time I use the standard ntsc..hopefully I get something more equal to the filesize on to the cd-r this time

  10. nope, this time it's at 2.18mb

  11. Something is wrong. Eliminate variables.

burn the 671MB file to CD as standard data file, check size. This checks burner and media.
BAD - try different media, and burning software, otherwise your
    drive has gone bad.

GOOD - Then image the file with VCDimager or similar, and burn the bin/cue. This is because if the data file burn works then you are screwing something up in the authoring process.

With your results I suspect bad media or drive.

  12. well..ok. I know the burner and media works because I just burned a data-cd of a game now and it was ok.
I have created the imagefile with vcdeasy and ended up with 3 files..so far so good?at least vcdeasy said it was sucsessfull...
How do I burn these to my cdr using NERO? data-cd or what..?

tnx for all the help, guys

Don't get why my previous attempts didn't work, thou...
Beginning to suspect that I haven't been hitting the "new" button often enough when I first open a program..
Wouldn't surprise me if it was something that stupid..

  13. UPDATE!! I sendt one of my burned cd's with a buddy of mine so that he could check on his dvd-standalone-player....and what do you know..it worked like a charm!!! I didn't belive him at first since the cd's apperently are only at about 2.2mb, but he wouldn't back down so...
How can this be??! Mine is a LG DVD4730 and is supporting both cd-r and vcd according to your list....even comments from other users who back this up..
I have punced in a code for it to take all zone's...
Is it possible that there's different versions of the same player?
There has to be something...should work!!

Could it be that you only see Track0 when you say that you only see 2.2MB? The bulk of the VCD is in Track1 (the .DAT file)...

  16. Now I really need help,guys!!
BIG PROBLEM!! I tried the vcd-hack which actually made my dvd-player accept my vcd's and so on, BUT now the sound is gone even on orginal dvd's and the picture on the tv is very yellow!!! Crist, what a neverending story!
As dumb as humanly possible I didn't write down the factory settings either and I can't find them on the web....
    Please come to my rescue

  17. forget it, got it fixed...but I have poor image quality
When the source file is ntsc...is it best to make the mpeg-1 file in ntsc??
and if so, is it best to burn it as ntsc??

funny enough the cd is still at 2.2mb when I look in properties..

btw..can I just delete those aspi drivers now?don't like things on my machine that I don't need...

  18. You are looking at the size of the ROOT DIRECTORY of the cd, check properties for the subdirectories and the entire disk.

Mpeg-1 or 2 choice not related to NTSC in any way, although 2 supports interlacing and 3:2 pulldown.
