  1. you know how you can play a freshly burned VCD (MPEG-1) on your pc to test it out and it plays and runs ok on media player or any other player. How about on a SVCD (MPEG-2) what codec do I need to play it on my pc? I thought I had all codecs installed on my pc, but I guess not since I keep getting an error when trying to play an SVCD to test it out...

Here are my current codecs I have installed on my pc:

    DivX 3.11 Alpha
    DivX 4.12
    DivX 5.0.2
    MPEG-4 V1/2/3 VKI

Any suggestions, a link to the codec I need? Or is this not possible...

  2. You would need a MPEG-II codec. If you have any DVD software available, install that. If not, you can try some of the free MPEG-II codecs under Tools on the left.

  3. you know I feel like an idiot after placing my post because I was just under the tools section and read on the DVD software and the MPEG-2 codec available for download...

since I really don't want to buy WinDVD or PowerDVD after the 30-day trial, out of the freeware ones which one would you recommend?

Maximus DVD? since this one requires the mpeg-2 codec do you still think it would cause sync problems, like if I just played it with media player alone?

    Sasami2k? or Videolan?

  4. Personally I find the free ones not as good, they play jerky or out of sync. PM me.
