I have downloaded a corrupted avi file. I tried to use avidefreezer program to fix the file after I found out the corrupted frame number using virtualdub. I got the avidefreezer program to run, however, it generates an extremely huge file that I had to stop the program before it finished as I was running out of disk space. The original avi file I downloaded is around 600 Meg in size, however, the avidefreezer program generates a file bigger than 2.9 G in size. Does anyone know why?
Thanks very much.

If you have successfully found the junk frames in Vdub, why not just save out another copy to remove them.
Vdub > scan video stream for errors
Video > direct stream copy
Audio > direct stream copy
SAVE AVI (Movie2.AVI)
This saves another copy without the junk frames...
See also my post of Vdub MP3 and junk frames.
To answer your question, the program your using is decompressing the AVI and saving it out uncompressed.
