I know exactly what you mean. I have the same problem and when I try to rip the audio using virtual dub just like it says in the How TO section I cannot it does not let me do it? weird plus it saves the avi to a very big mpeg also so if anyone else knows the answers please help!

  4. After you have the DivX movie in .avi format, use VirtualDub to rip the audio into a .wav file. Once you have that use TMPGEnc. Open it up and use the wizard if you want. Use the .avi as the video source and the .wav as the audio source. Then you should get a fully functional .mpg file

  5. I tried encoding the same movie 5 times. I tried everything, including using virtualdub to seperate the sound. I think the reason for my success on the sixth time was because I installed some more codecs, nimo.

Worked fantastic. I was surprised how fast virtualdub could pull the sound from a two hour movie, less then 2 minutes.
