    any difference between .dat and .mpeg file?
    As I know when I use vcdgear convert .dat to .mpeg
    the filesize of .mpeg would be smaller than .dat

    is it true that just rename .dat to .mpeg?

    I believe you can simply rename, the dat is an MPeg 1 file with VCD bumpers and headers in it.

    Still, your best bet is to simply convert it with VCDGear and remove the bumper to be sure of it's compliancy
