    what would be great would be if a standalone dvd player could play AVI files on a cdr instead of having to encode files from an AVI to an Mpeg...alot of things would be quicker....that was just a thought.......

    there is a samsung asian dvd player with a flash ROM codec chip.


    it is possible to flash the codec rom to play divx.

    ONLY ON THIS PARTICLUAER MODEL !

    That one support divx 4.02+ and will be released soon....it is based on the hollywood xcard. But remember that lots of avi divx are still in divx 3.xx.
