  1. I've got an .avi file that i would like to convert and burn to VCD using Nero v. 5.5.8.0 but when I try, it seems like it starts to convert the file for about 5 seconds, but then just stops and says Done !?!
I've made a lot of VCD's using Nero but I never had this problem before.
I have the latest Nimo codec pack and Divx 5.0.2
I hope someone can tell me what I've done wrong

  2. Most people agree that the quality of the MPEG encoding in Nero is not that good - it's best to use Nero only to burn an MPEG which you have converted using a better encoder such as Flask with a decent plugin (Panasonic/LSX/BBEnc?) or TMPGEnc.

If your avi file has errors in it, that might be what's causing Nero to do strange things. Try using Virtual Dub to open the file, then go to Video->Scan Video Stream For Errors.

Then use TMPGEnc to encode to VCD compliant MPEG1 with the templates/wizard. After this, Nero should accept the file first time, without saying it needs to re-encode it.

A lot of the software I've mentioned here is listed in the tools section of this site.

    ' hope this helps,
