I just got a Sony Digital 8 camcorder and have been trying DV capture functions. Everything captures great, however during the preview (and capture) no audio is heard. There is audio in the captured file, but you just cannot hear it during the capture. Is this normal? I have a workaround using the headphone output and line in to get sound, but I cant believe thi is 'normal'. By the way, I have a SB Audigy doing the Firewire function as well as sound (humm... could that be an issue?). Second, there is a DV pass through function on the Sony TRV-240 (as well as others) that 'converts' analog sources to DV so they can be captured via IEEE 1394. Short story: I connected my DVD player the the analog inputs (S-Video and audio) and used the DV function to capture the disc. Worked great, no macrovision issues!
