  1. Hi,

Im sorry if this is a repeated question, but Im experiencing a loss of frames (about 1/4 is lost ) Iv tried HuffyUV, and it does not seem to be "lossless" as it claims, and to be honest, the best results for capturing so far have come from whatever codec the Pinnacle Studio PCTV software captures with. Can anyone please reccomend me a codec or piece of software to use and which settings to adjust in order to get less frames lost?

    Many, many thanks guys.

  2. Hi,

I'm new to this but so far i've found out that the best codec is PICVideo MJPEG Codec. It can be download here:

    http://www.jpg.com/picvideomjpeg.htm

With my PIII 450mhz I'm now able to capture at 640 x 480 without lost frames

    I hope that helps

  3. @stokefan. I note that you listed as having "10 Gig free". Do you mean by that thats your primary/main hard disk drive?
IF so, then thats going to be one factor for the large frame drops.
I own a PCTV pro card myself,so I can tell that the Huffy AVI captures are MUCH better than the crappy Pinnacle AVI codec that the studio software uses.

To get started,I ended up having a minimum 128Mb ram,(now 256), & got a 2nd 40Gb 7200rpm ATA 100 hard disk, running off the ATA 100 speed & haven't looked back. Also in order to make effective use of the Huffy codec you'll need that much space.

Also consider using VirtualDub or AVI_IO,(or both), for capturing. If you need some tips, send me a PM & I'll try to help you out, okay?
