  1. i cant play anything with audio, it goes too damn fast I tried helpo but you know how vague windows help is. it says i have a bad audio driver, then why the hell does QT Winamp, and Real Player audio work ok?

  2. What video codecs have you installed and what video card are you using? I had this same problem with my old Radeon 64 Vivo sometimes, especially with wmv and Divx files. Try reinstalling the DivX 5 codec and updating or reinstalling media player. If this doesn't work, using WinDVD and the Divx Player for video playback should solve it for sure, you might try Zoom player as well, but I have not tested that.

  3. all programs that se direct show like WMP Zoom, WinDVD and PowerDVD.
    Do i need to buy a new audio card, WMP help says i need a new driver but the driver download from compaq is like 30 mb.

  5. m1v and other demuxed video files play alright its just mp3s wavs and mpg audio the video is goes fine if there is no audio in the video file

  6. The only thing I can think of is trying several different (read: older) versions of your audio driver (if you can find more than just the latest). Try and find out if it is a standard version of the sound chipset (most likely Sound Blaster) or something proprietary to Compaq.

  7. its a Analog Devices SoundMAX 3 on a compaq 5000US.
    Anyhelp would be great but I have to get my computer fixed anyway so i'llget the guy to fix this too.
