I just bought a Terapin for $260 shipped from www.pcnation.com
Works pretty good. Better picture than I expected. I do get some artifacts from dvd, might be macrovision making some scenes slightly blurry. I like it since dvd recorders are still in thier infancy and with the format wars.........terapin works and works well -
I had a terapin I got for $199, returned it to Sams club(bad quality) saved up another $300 and bought a DVD-R/Ram recorder panasonic DMR-E20 and VERY more than pleased with the results, bought another one from Amazon.com the DMR-E10 for $399 with 180 days sam as cash payback and having 2 DVD recorders is like being in heaven, unbelievable what you can do with them both and a hacked DVD Player, he he.
Lets just say I have made enough money using them to completely pay the DMR-E10 off, in just 2 months.
FYI - Buy the Primedisc for $1.68 each and they work perfect! -
The Terapin works very well for what it is. A panasonic DMRE-30/20 would be nice **but** you need to get a de-macrovision box to record your vhs tapes and dvd's. Media price is higher than CD-R, and which format is going to win? Beta vs VHS..........DVD-R vs DVD+R?
