  1. I have this problem. I just downloaded this 750mb divx .avi movie and it does not seem to have ANY sound. I tried windows media player, realone player, divx player and bsplayer.

I tried other divx movies and they all had sound? What is the likely problem, or is it just that this movie doesn't have sound?

Try loading it into virtual dub and click on file information. It will then open up a window telling you the specs of the file and if there is any audio on it. If not, then I'm affraid you've downloaded a silent film!!!

    Hi,
I had the same problem. I downloaded PowerDivx from www.PowerDivX.com to fix the problem. Its free and in my opinion it has been sound handling than Media Player.
It solved the problem of the silent DIVX movie, because the DIVX movie was encoded using AC3 sound instead of standard stereo, and I did not have a DirectShow AC3 decoder installed. PowerDivX installs the AC3 decoder.

After I had installed PowerDivX, I was able to watch the movie even in Media Player also with sound.

A cool program to get is Graph Edit (Its free) from Microsoft. It comes with the DirectShow SDK. It will display a graph of all the decoders a movie requires.

    Hope that helps.

The Nimo codec pack also has AC3, which most people have installed by now
