I'll admit I haven't checked ALL the posts, but my question is... can I use CCE to create DVD compatible mpegs? I know it has an option for DVD compliant, but does it really work?

I ask because I'm thinking of getting a DVD-R drive & am wondering what I'll need to create the files needed to make a DVD compatable mpeg.

TMPGEnc makes DVD compatible files, and the are a few sites that have extra templates if the packaged ones do not work for you.
    Hello.

Thanks for the reply, but you didn't answer my question. Can I use the DVD compliant option & ACTUALLY make DVD compliant MPEG2 files?

I don't use TMPGEnc. Tried it, been there, done it, don't like it.

I do use it for other purposes, but not for actual encoding of DVD "rips".

  4. Absolutely - do it all the time. However, I do my own menus and such - have not yet figured out how to use CCE to reencode "in place" - but I think the guides have that information.

You don't really need the "DVD compliant" checkbox in CCE - from what I understand, all that does is force the video size to 720 x 480, but it's normally already that (or even 352 x 480 for me, sometimes), so I normally don't bother to check it.

Thanks VidGuy (been a while!). I thought so, but just wanted to check beforehand.
