Hi, I'm using DVD Rebuilder with CCE set to 6 passes to back up a DVD and it's been taking about 18 hours a DVD. When I was doing the same thing about a year ago, the DVD would take 8-10 hours. I reformat my computer about once a month and just tried it again, but it still takes about 18 hours. Does anybody know why this is? Are there programs I might have installed that make it slower? Could it just be wear and tear on the computer (even though I just reformatted)? Please help, thanks!

I don't recommend doing more than 3 passes with CCE. Some have done tests and it seems that there is almost no improvement after the 3rd pass. That would give you somewhat better encode time, but the longest encode I've ever had with DVD-RB and CCE on my old single core 3200+ AMD server is a little over 4 hours.
Yes, it's possible that you installed some programs that are making your PC slower. It could also be that you need more memory. -
Why on earth do you reformat every month ? What an incredible waste of time. If you feel, for some OCD reason, that you must reformat, at least use an imaging tool such as TrueImage to reduce the amount of time taken to rebuild, and to preserve your settings so you don't end up in this type of situation again.
