well depends on the bit rate and sizing of the mpeg1 ... you cant make it better if it was a vcd to start with ..

  5. Nah it wasn't a VCD. It's a pretty high quality MPEG-1. See, my capture card is most stable in MPEG-1, so I always encode in that. Plus I have the best editing utils for MPEG-1's...yet I'm starting to tire of the lackluster quality of VCD. If I can quickly convert a nice MPEG-1 to MPEG-2 for a nice quality SVCD, I'd be very please. Hmm, would TMPGEnc do this for me? I've not used it much before...

  6. Yep you can do that with TmpgEnc easily.

    Start TmpgEnc.

Load your video mpeg 1 at the bodom where indicate video source. The audio stream will be dectected automatic.

Then, push on the setting button and chose your spec. At the top you can choice between mpeg1 mpeg2....ect...

Then just push the start button.

    That's it

    Never have guessed that

TMPGEnc (Free) 2.55 will convert to SVCD if you install the Nimo codec pack, but may only work for the 30 days.

TMPGEnc Plus 2.57 needs a different codec for MPEG 2, a suitable one can be installed by Installing Power DVD 4

Then just load a SVCD template, browser for video > VCD mpeg 1
