  1. I was able to access the hiden menu on my Konka 1800 DVD player thanks to your help to make it region code free and disable the macrovision. Is there one of these settings I could change to make it read and play a DVD-R made on a new Panasonic DMRE-20 DVD recorder. The DVD-R plays in newer machines, but not mine. Any quick fix to this problem??
    Thanks in advance,
    Ed

  3. To change region on the Konka 1800:

Turn on player and open tray

On the Remote key in 6, 6, 6, 6, Select

A hidden menu will appear on your TV screen 'D-1800 System Setup'

Use the directional buttons to scroll down to 'Country Code'

Press Select on the Remote and change the setting to the Region Code you need, 1 thru 6. Changing it to 13 to make it code free

After entering the desired number press Select

From this menu you can change other settings, but to exit the menu just press Return

    To disable Macrovision:

Access hidden menu as described above

Use directional buttons on remote to scroll down to 'Macrovision' The default setting is 1 which seems to mean 'enabled'

Press Select and then press the 0/10 button. This clears the setting

Press Select and the setting changes to 0 which disables it

Press Return to exit the menu

To skip the FBI warning message:

Access the hidden menu as described above

    Select OP PROH DISABLE

Set the value to 1 to have the ability to skip the warning

Set the value to 0 to disable the ability to skip the warning

  4. If your Konka cannot play DVD-R discs that work fine in other players then it's likely it simply isn't DVD-R capable.

You could try different brands of DVD-R and if that doesn't work, check out the manufacturers website for a firmware upgrade. If you are lucky, they'll have an upgrade available to make the player DVD-R compatible. If not then you are out of luck I am afraid.
