  1. Hi guys,
I just upgraded the firmware from 8.00 to 9.28 and afterwards performed the RC6 hack first with a Palm and then with the One4All remote control to make sure it was really changed (couldn't believe it was that easy ...).

Anyway, the DVD player works fine with DVDs and Audio-CDs, but it doesn't play VCDs properly. I see the picture but sound is not available at all. This was already the case before I upgraded the fw and performed the hack.

Is there anything else I need to do in order to get that bloody machine work? I just downloaded a sample file for SVCD and will burn a copy to try if that works (but I am not very confident).

    Hope U can help.
    Cheers

    Hi,
How do you have your audio set up ?

I have a philips DVD player and have it hooked up to a surround amp via fibre optic and my stereo via regular audio plugs. To play (S)VCD's though my surround system I need to go into the players setup and change the audio to PCM / Stereo, otherwise my surround equipment won't pick up the signal. My player will send a stereo audio signal to my stereo no matter what settings I change.

Oh, BTW, make sure to change the audio settings back otherwise you won't get proper 5.1 output to your surround system....it will downmix to Dolby Surround (Pro Logic).....that is assuming, of course, that you have your player hooked up to a 5.1 system.
