  1. Hey,

I'm having some problems ripping DVD's to my hardrive. When I'm ripping the speed never goes to 2.0x or higher, its always lower(1.5x). I'm running Win Xp Pro, with P4 1.6G, 256 RAM. My DVD-ROM drive is a 16x Lite-on, and all my ASPI layers are up to date. Any suggestions one how to speed up the ripping process would be appreciated.

  2. Is you drive set for UDMA or PIO mode in the Device Manager (check under the IDE Controller/Primary or Secondary Channel/Advanced Settings section)? Whatever it is set for, try the opposite

Generally speaking, DMA mode will perform the better and use less CPU overhead. Personally, I have to set my Pioneer 104 to PIO mode in order to get Nero to recognize it and burn a DVD. I get 2.0x rips with my 104.

Don't forget that it isn't just copying the data, but it also decrypting it.
