i have just used tmpgenc to convert an avi file to m2v. I use nero to burn but it will not accept these files to write to dvd. Do i have to convert them to vob files?
If so could someone please enlighten me on how

You have to auther the m2v before you can burn it.
And also did you not create a Audio stream...mp2
m2v is only the video stream."I´m not popular enough to be different" -
You should have 2 streams .m2v and .mp2, which you should re name to .mpa for compatibility. If you are authoring with PAL you could use ifoedit to author a dvd from these streams.

What the ????
Before everyone gets confused, when you load your .avi, you should have a set of buttons next to your BROWSE buttons. Go to the bottom and make sure that Video and Audio is selected. Your output file should default to .mpg, and not anything else. If you're using the wizard for DVD encoding, then I don't see any other way you could have chosen Video only (thus your .m2v)?????
Once you output your .mpg, then your authouring program will create a VOB file out of it..

Dont use tmpeg for .mpeg (video+audio). It really does a bad job with audio, esp. if your avi uses divx/mpeg4 codecs.
