    Folks,

I have the latest version of DVD Studio Pro. I export m2v files from TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress (PC program) that are 100% dvd compatible. I can play the files on my Mac in Quicktime. HOWEVER, said files will not import into DVDSPro - they are labeled as an 'incompatible asset.'

Anyone have any advice? I've done a bunch of tests and none of the m2vs will import.

yes, not all flavors of m2v work with DVDSP.
Can you possibly re-export them through MPEGSTREAMCLIP?

In MPEG Streamclip select FILE->DEMUX TO HEADED M2V and AC3.

The guide I was following left out the all important "headed" part. I have saved and exported out every option from MPEG Streamclip and "headed" are the only ones that DVD Studio Pro 4 will import.

I am an extreme newbie at this stuff and I have no idea what "headed" means, I just know it works. I know this thread is ancient but this is where the search engine led me so I offer this in hopes of saving some other wanderer the headache I went through figuring this out.

Okay, did I mention in earlier in previous post that I am an extreme newbie?...

Scratch what I said about having to use "headed m2v". After posting above I went back in and began editing my project in DSP4 and discovered that this type of m2v would import but not play (just got a green screen).

I deleted it and imported a "DEMUX TO M2V and AIFF" clip exported from MPEG Streamclip and this time it worked! So there must be some kind of flakiness in DSP4 (or my computer). It was the same clip that previously was reporting "incompatible asset" error earlier before I relaunched DSP4.

So scratch the "headed" part! If you can't get your asset to import, try relaunching DVD Studio Pro 4.
