  1. Anyone here managed to successfully do this conversion and keep the audio and everything in sync?

  2. Ok easy enough on the audio side of things. De-multiplex the audio and use Besweet to convert from 29 to 25 fps... As for the video...

  3. I suppose you could take the steps from my last post with the audio, and re-encode the video using tmpenc and the PAL svcd template, making sure you select "do not frame rate conversion" in the advanced options, i bet you would have sound sync problems though, and you would lose picture quality.

yep i tried that but then the length of the audio gets longer, like say it was 48mins it would be 52mins, and the audio sounds slower

I don't think you can convert the framerate of an mpg...and I am not sure what you mean when you say the "framerate" of an audio stream-I thought the term framerate was reserved for video streams-seeing as video has frames and audio does not...but I do know this-a framerate conversion should not change the length of the video in seconds, just the RATE at which frames are delivered PER second. Again, I have never attempted what you are doing, but off hand I would say that the audio won't need to be touched...just separated from the video...

  6. The audio will most deifinatley need to be changed, as for fps reguarding audio, i simply meant that the speed of the audio will need to be changed, but im sure you got my drift... Another way to "change" the audio would be to stretch or compress using an App like Cool-Edit, theres a guide someware for doing this, have a look in the "convert" section of the guides. I still think re-encoding with Tmpenc is your answer.

Another long winded solution would be to encode your mpeg2 to 29 fps Divx, not as much loss in quality, and not hard (DVD2AVI or Flask will do this) and THEN converting this to 25fps Divx, look for my post here: (substitue 24 for 29 fps)

    http://forum.vcdhelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=100965&highlight=

Then convert your Divx using Tmpegenc..

Its just crazy enough to work....

ok so i separate the audio and video using tmpegenc, then use besweet to convert the audio from 29fps > 25fps, then compress that audio back to size with cool edit, right?
tried that, i used cool edit to compress the audio time to match the video but after it still sounds like their voices have gone deeper, even though the length of the audio matches the video
