  1. Well, ok, here it goes:
Im new at this and i just learned how to make VCDs. I heard that SVCDS have better quality so i read the HOW-TO in this site in how to convert AVI to SVCD. So I read all the instructions and loaded the SVCD template and adjustded the bitrate and everything else, I did a preview and It looked great, and then i tried to do a sample, I started Encoding and stopped it after a few seconds. Then I opened up the output file with a few seconds encoded but then it says that the format isnt valid and that i dont have the codec. This does not happen when i do a sample for VCD only when its a sample for SVCD. Is there a specific codec i need for SVCD or did i do something wrong in the settings? (im using TMPGenc by the way)

  2. Mpeg 2 streams are not natively supported by windows. You need to grab the codec or install your dvd software, if you have a dvd drive. I believe this is what you're looking for. http://www.mpeg.org/MPEG/MSSG/#source The.zip file contains the windows version. I haven't tried ot though. My dvd software handles .mp2 files for me.

    I hope this helps,
