i know it's possible to split a DVD9 to fit on two DVD-R 4.7GB. but can u burn the movie on a double sided DVD-R 9.4GB (2x4.7GB) and play the movie without turning the disk?
or do u have to edit something?
has anyone done this or tried to?

If you burn on both side you must turn the disc on your dvd player. If you do not want to turn the disc you must rip, reencode so it fits and burn on one side.

there was a combo dvd/laserdisc player, the pioneer dvl-919e, that could read both sides of a laserdisc without having to turn it over but it could only do that for laserdiscs. i don't think there are any dvd players that can do the same thing. so you would be better off reencoding the film to make it fit one side of the disc like baldrick said.
