  1. When I convert an .mpg in VPC5 using files from my shared folder ( I have a fixed-sized WIN98 disk image) VPC doesn't want to save the file to the shared folder but to the disc image so I get a "not enough disk space" message.
VPC4 will save to the shared folder.
Is there a setting that I should know about? I can use VPC4 but want to get into OSX.

    Thanks for any info.

In the Folders setting, you can map a folder off your Win image as another drive. I map my entire external hard drive, and it shows up in VPC5 as drive Z:.

    I'll give it a try.

  4. Nope - Won't work for me. I checked off "network " and "removable" disks in the shared folder setting, but VCDImager only recognises the disc space on my virtual disk. In VPC4, VCDImager will list the available virtual disc space, but when I enter the .mpg file and click "go" the available disc space changes to 2000+MB and proceeds with the conversion.
    Any more suggestions, anyone?

    Thanks and regards from Dave

I would have thought that what AntnyMD said would have worked. That's the only explaination I can think of. And you say that the program doesn't see your mapped drive? I used VPC 5 for a while and had no problems with the mapped drive.

  6. tgpo -

If "mapped drive" means does it recognise my Mac HD as a shared folder, it does. I have that drive listed as drive z.
    I'm using VPC4/WIN98 and VCDImager, right now with a B&W G3, 9.2.2
I wamt to use VPC5 with the same WIN/98 virtual disc on a Titanium Powerbook using OSX. The virtual drive that I'm using is a dupe of the one I'm using on the G3 and is a fixed sized drive. I expanded the fixed drive on the Powerbook to a gigabite but VCD Imager still says that I have 0 space available to process the mpeg file.
Maybe If I reinstall using WinME that came with the VPC4. Those drive images will expand as needed. Only problem is I don't like Win/ME and can't figure out how to re-install WIN/98 onto an empty virtual disc.
I can't get VPC to mount the CD for install.
I'll use VPC4 for the time being and see if I can create a new virtual disc and install WIN/98

  7. I think this is a major bug in VPC 5. Luckily I can copy to a Mac folder (shared) and Win Rar will write to the shared folder. Even TMPG will read and write to the shared folder. This is a VPC problem. Somehow some programs show the shared folder as having no space. So they won't write to it.

It's a pain. I have a 15 gig Disk for Win98 for working with video. but it would be much easier if I could just download to the Shared folder.

You can give Roxio's forums a try, but ofter they'll just tell u to call tech support.

If you have an "educational" copy, that wont help you.

  9. 6/26/Wednesday-

I just installed the VPC5.0.4 update which is posted on a.b.m.a. and probably available on the Connectix website.
VCDImager now recognises disc space on shared folders and mapped drives.
    Hooray!javascript:emoticon(':P')

Thanks for your interest and suggestions.

    Regards from, Dave

Nevermind my above post (which I'm sure you all have already done).
I guess I need more coffee.

1 question...why use a windows VCDImager when you have OS X?

  13. Forgive my ignorance, but I've only started using OSX since I got my Powerbook three weeks ago.
My viedo files are on my desktop Mac which has 9.2.2 installed.
What do I need to process mpegs in OSX? Hope that it's faster than with VPC and VCDImager.

Actually it is VCD Imager. The old command line port is still floating around, but if you want to use VCD Tools X. You can get it and other useful software at http://www.opuscc.com/
