Have been trying to capture video from my Samsung VPD77 for quite a long time. It's very frustrating that I've never got sound in my captured .avi files. I am using a 1394 firewire card, a PIII-733 cpu, a SB 128 sound card and a VIA Apollo ProPCI Chipset. I already checked the Line-in in the Mixer during capturing, but never heard the sound when I played it with Windows mediaplayer. I use Premiere 6 to capture. It's very strange that premiere 6 always says the audio track is something like 32000Hz, 16bit, stereo when I checked the properties of these .avi files, but it is always MUTE. Help please!!!

If you're using firewire to transfer the video, your Line-In has nothing to do with it, as the audio is already embedded in the stream that you're transferring.
Typical audio setting for DV is 48KHz 16bit, unless the setting in the camcorder is changed. So I would suggest you look into your camcorder's setting, and change audio setting in Premiere accordingly.
Or, you can try some other software to transfer the video to your PC.
Hope this helps.
