You have an audio codec missing, download and install Nimo Codec pack... Sigh

I'm not really clear on the "from hell can't encode" but when virtualdub rejects an avi I do one of the following:
If VirtualDub rejects the avi I do this for Ogg audio(There are probably alot of reasons for an avi to be rejected by VirtualDub but the only ones I have personally experienced is OGG and ac3 Audio)
Tools needed: GRAPHEDIT / LATEST OGGDS filter pack.

for ac3 audio I use VirtualDub to extract the ac3 using direct stream copy-save wav -then rename the file from .wav to *.ac3 - then use ac3Tool to convert the .ac3 to .wav.
For the freeware check here:

hope this helps -
i have encoded this onto vcd
as above i used virtual dub to extract wav from avi but i then used headac3e to convert from ac3 to wav. -
For some reason people are bypassing Vdub and going straight to TMPGEnc, you cannot do this. If the AVI has junk frames, chances are TMPGEnc will stop encoding, so you have wasted a lot of time, when a quick scan in Vdub would reveal problems.Originally Posted by willmcmanus
When loading into Vdub, if the AVI contains the AC3 codec, you will get a warning, saving out the audio converted to uncompressed WAV will then cure the problem with TMPGENC.
For some reason, I have seen posts saying people have to save the WAV using streaming, which later has to be converted. I have no problem in using Vdub to save the WAV converted to 44.1Khz uncompressed. I can only think that either the new Nimo has something different or I have some other codec installed for AC3 conversions.
