VCDs and PSX

Hi, i need to know sumthing.
I want to play VCDs on Playstation (The original 1st model).
And i know ppl say to use that thing u plug into the back.
but i want to kno if theres other ways?
like to convert the vcds into playstation format so i can play em on normally (my playstation is modified to play CD-R's) or is there sumthing else i can do?, like download sumthing and put it on a cd, and play it in playstation which will then ask me to insert the vcd and it would play it.

can sum1 help me plz!!!!!!!

There is a vcd boot disc for psx but it just succz. The the Add-on that plugs on the bacc is alot better. You could convert the movies to psx movie format but it would be totally pointless. All that time to encode (you will have to encode it twice) and the movie would only be playable on a psx. The Add-on would give you the same qaulity but slightly better then encoding it into psx movie format.

well, is there a place to download and burn the bootdisc?

and also, i would like to know how to encode it as psx, so it can work on my playstation.

Not sure I don't go around looking to burn crappy stuff. So some old out dated psx site may still have it online.

To encode it into PSX Video you will have to checc out some old psx dev sites that may have a tool. Some People use the Code Warrior to do it. Its a huge programming pakage that lets you do just about anything on a psx. A Rip version of this is about 68mb.

Well ive found how to convert AVI to .str files, now My problem is.. how do i burn it onto a cd so it will work?
wot kind of cd do i burn? and also, how do i burn it on? just that .str file by itself?????

there used to be a small zip file going on at the time that would play play str files if the files are movie1.str, movie2.str, movie3.str ....... so on, you get it. The zip file contain a inf file and a exe (ps2 format) file. Burn them to a cd in mode2 (data cd) NO LONG FILE NAMES, NO JOILET.


If you can't find that zip file but have a gameshark type device you can burn the cd files the same but use any inf & exe (ps2 format) from any psx game you have. Burn the cd in the same format. But you can now use the gameshark movie player to play the str files. The qauilty may be decrease slightly but not by very much, maybe about 1-5%.

i have a playstation (the 1st ever one) and its chipped to play CD-Rs.
SO i would need those files, the inf and exe. but.. in playstation format (not PSONE or PS2) i need to kno where to get it, do u knno where u can direct me to?
