Struggling to copy from hard-drive

Guys, my apologies, i've looked thru this forum to find an answer to this problem, but not found oat...its probably been asked loadz of times b4, so dont get too mad with me....ok, to the question....
I've copied some dvds onto my pc but struggling like mad to copy them onto VCD..I have nero 5 but obvoiusly to files are too big for one disc which nero requires...ive also tried using TMPGNEC but when I try to insert one of the files it says its not compatible...please could someone shed some light on this situation...I guess half my problem is that im new to all this and dont fully understand the programs im using and what they actually do...I've basically fumbled my way thru is so far....thanx for any help.

If you look to the left you will see DVD RIP. click on that and start reading, you have a long way to go.

I would suggest you look into a program like DVD2SVCD which automates the process for you.
